Tibet is one of the world's most extraordinary destinations. Its snow covered plateaus are the highest in the world and besides Everest, which Tibetans see from 'the other side', many mountains are over 15000 feet. Lhasa , the capital, lies at 3,590 meters and it is Tibet 's religious, cultural, and economic centre.
Tibetan lives are woven inherently with the active practice of religion. Much of the time is spent in prayer even while working. Tibet is the center of Lamest Buddhism. Dharma Gurus, the incarnations of Lord Buddha, once ruled the country and they built the great monasteries of the Jokhang, Tashilhunpo, Garden, Drepung, Sera and of course, the 1000-room Potala Palace.
A land of ancient Buddhist culture, stunning landscape, ancient monasteries, exotic cities, hidden valleys and centuries-old caravan trails, Tibet offers an entirely different experience. Often referred to as the roof of the world, it is the destination of a vast spectrum of travelers - religious pilgrims, trekkers, mountain climbers, students and seekers.
